Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship

Institution:

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire

Tenure:

12 months

Aimed at:

Post-CCT Surgeons (UK & Overseas)

Information:

This busy tertiary referral unit is run by three shoulder & elbow surgeons (Steve Drew, Tom Lawrence & Chet Modi).

The high volume fellowship provides the candidate with outstanding exposure to elective shoulder and elbow open and arthroscopic procedures in both primary and revision settings. In addition, the fellow will gain experience in the management of complex shoulder and elbow trauma in a Major Trauma Centre setting.

Previous fellows’ logbooks demonstrate over 500 cases performed during their year with over 90% as lead-surgeon and approximately 50 total shoulder arthoplasties. There is ample opportunity for parallel and independent operating lists during the year.

There is a weekly “Acute Shoulder & Elbow clinic” which runs with all members of the team present as a forum for discussion of trauma & complex tertiary referrals.

The department is integrated with the University of Warwick providing ample opportunity to be actively involved in research and teaching within the department.
