                                                                                BESS 2010


BESS invites the submission of 300 word abstracts for presentation as a paper or poster for the above meeting. If the abstract is accepted it will be published in the Final Programme of the Meeting and a Proceedings Supplement of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery respectively.

Please read the instructions below and complete all sections of the form.

THE CALL FOR PAPERS WILL CLOSE midnight 17th January 2010 .

ABSTRACT FORMAT
The Heading
i. The title. Entire title in capital letters, without abbreviations.
ii. Author’s initial/s and first letter of surname in capital letters; remainder of name in
lower case (eg. J F Bloggs).
iii. The institution where work was carried out.


Organisation of Content
i. A statement of the purposes of the study (one sentence).
ii. A summary of the methods used and the results.
iii. A statement of the conclusion. (It is not acceptable to state “The results will be discussed”).

Include simple tables or graphs only if necessary. (These will not be included when submitting to the JBJS).
Use common abbreviations. If unusual abbreviations are used, the full phrase must be used in parentheses the first time it appears.
Use only single line spacing
Do not mention sponsors.
Do not use commercial names of medicines.

Please note:
The paper will be accepted on the understanding that the senior author will be present at the meeting to support the presentation.  

No individual person is allowed to present more than one paper at the meeting but can be named on other papers presented.  

All communications regarding the paper will be by email only to the corresponding author.

 We expect to accept the top 42 submissions for podium presentations and the next 30 best submissions for poster presentation.  There is no facility to submit a paper for consideration for poster only.

Amendments are not accepted after submission and subsequent duplicates will automatically be deleted. 


Confirmation of submission will be sent by email.  If not received within 2 hours then the abstract has not been successfully submitted.  We encourage authors to retain this confirmation email in case of dispute.  


The judging committee will not accept any responsibility for missing abstracts where the authors cannot produce the submission confirmation email.

A final decision of accepted papers will be made by 31st January 2010 and an email sent to the corresponding author.
