Requirements:

The fellowship should take the form of working full time for at least a week at a time in five or six different centres. It is expected that at least four of these weeks would be spent in centres in the UK, and the others in centres in Europe.

The fellowship is specifically for the advancement of clinical skills and is not for any form of research. Involvement must play an important part rather than just observation.

Application for the fellowship is in the form of a letter of application to the BESS Society Secretary, together with 5 copies of their curriculum vitae and an outline proposal for the six weeks of study. The centres and the specialists to be visited, the purpose of the proposed visits, the means of travel and the merits of the proposal itself will all be taken into consideration.

It is the responsibility of the successful candidate to finalise the plan for the six weeks although Biomet have also indicated their willingness to offer advice regarding suitable centres to visit.

Short-listed candidates will be required to attend for interview at the Annual Meeting. The winner of the award will be announced during the BESS Annual Scientific Meeting.

The successful candidate will be expected to complete the fellowship within 1 year of presentation of the award and give a short presentation at the subsequent annual meeting of the Society. They will also be invited to visit the Biomet factory/ headquarters and give a similar presentation, together with a tour of their facilities.

Applications can only be submitted online. Please fill in the application form on the journals homepage.

The Fellowship winner should directly contact Jacqui Stanley on jaclyn.stanley@biometeurope.com for funds for the fellowship
